Job Description:
Basic Function: The Benefits Consultant will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, communication and administration of the corporate employee Health Welfare benefit programs in the US and Canada.  The ideal candidate will be results oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently to achieve success and realize potential.  He/she also will possess excellent communication skills, good customer service, high attention to detail, and the ability to contribute as a part of a team. Roles Responsibilities: • Manage day to day relationships with benefits vendors. monitor vendor performance against expectations and service level agreements. • Participate in providing support for internal and external benefit plan audits for plans in the US and Canada. • Work with benefits accounting team on cost allocation and charge back reporting • Serve as escalation point for problem resolution for employees and HR partners • Coordinate and monitor data feeds to vendors (works closely with HRIM and Payroll).  Manage processes to ensure quality control, validity, and accuracy of benefits census data. • Identify/develop best practices ensuring plan compliance and operational efficiency. • Work with corporate communications team and benefits manager to prepare drafts of employee benefits communications • Analyze internal data as well as data provided from third party vendors to provide consultative reporting to management and HR business partners. • Validate correct configuration of vendors systems through acceptance testing • Conduct employee meetings for both Health Welfare and Retirement benefits as requested in the Houston area and out-of-state locations • Support benefits projects such as the Health Welfare annual enrollment as well as other ad hoc projects • Execute various audits and SOX controls to ensure accuracy in premiums and claims payments and payroll deductions. • Work with tax department and vendors to prepare basic filings and employee forms such as PCORI filings, ACA 6055/6056 reporting, and T4s/RL1s for Canada • Perform other benefits related tasks and responsibilities as needed, including cross-training in Retirement benefits (401k and pension benefits) Educational Requirements: A bachelors degree is required Essential Requirements: • At least 2+ years of relevant benefits experience is required.
